The new Center for Infection Prevention (ZIP) is built at the Liesel-Beckmann-Straße, located North of the Building of Animal-Sciences and opposite of the Hans Eisenmann-Forum for Agricultural-Sciences. The groundbreaking ceremony for the new Research Building funded by the Science Ministry of the Freistaat Bayern took place on July 11th, 2023.
The ZIP is concerned with the question of how we will deal with antibiotic-resistant germs in the future, for which there are few or no effective treatment options. Five competence teams - microbiome, microbiology, immunology, technology and translation - are developing innovative strategies that keep resistant pathogens in check, control them in existing infections and prevent their spread.
The planned technology platform of the ZIP comprises the parts Cultureomics, Cellanalytics and Informatics and will translate new findings into prevention and therapy concepts.
Please be informed that the ZIP is presently a research institute only. We do not provide clinical treatments, individual medical advice, or therapeutic recommendations, nor do we supply therapeutic products to patients. Our BayPha program focuses on research to identify and characterize selected bacteriophages, with a view to their potential future clinical application by specialized centers. We do not have or provide our own clinical treatment programs.
For medical assessments, diagnoses, or treatment decisions, please consult your treating physician or an appropriately licensed medical institution. Your medical professionals are welcome to contact us with scientific questions.
